The nearby 7.5-kilometre-long Schluchsee is also one of the most popular sights in the Black Forest. Among other things, you can visit the Baden state brewery Rothaus and the Hüsli local history museum, which became famous in the TV series Schwarzwaldklinik. Our tip: take a hike around the Schluchsee. The 18-kilometre tour is relatively easy and flat. You start in Schluchsee Aha. You can park there in the parking lot at the train station. The tour continues to Schluchsee Ort, Seebrugg railroad station and then to the dam wall. Your route then takes you directly along the lake to Unterkrummenhof. Here you can take a break and enjoy a snack in the open air or in the inn. The route continues back to Aha station. If the 18 kilometers are too long for you, you can also cover part of the route on the MS Schluchsee tour boat.

The town of Donaueschingen has many activities to offer. The world-famous source of the Danube is the attraction that draws every Black Forest visitor and Danube lover to this beautiful town. The spring is located in Donaueschingen in the castle park between the town church of St. John and the Fürstenberg Castle. What gushes out of the ground here is rainwater from the Black Forest, which seeps into the ground, flows underground to the edge of the Black Forest and comes to light again in Donaueschingen as the source of the Danube. However, many other sights, such as the colorful Art Nouveau buildings, the blue town hall with musicians' fountain, the town church in Bohemian Baroque style, numerous museums and other sights invite you to visit the town of Donaueschingen. Anyone strolling through the beautiful old town of Freiburg will inevitably be drawn to Freiburg Minster, the city's landmark. It stands majestically in the middle of the city on Münsterplatz. Every morning, the citizens of Freiburg shop here at the weekly market. However, this beautiful cobblestone square around the cathedral has a number of other sights to offer, such as the Alte Wache, the historic department store, nice cafés and the Wentzingerhaus, which now houses the Museum of City History. Our tip: We recommend traveling to Freiburg by train, as the train goes through the legendary "Höllental" gorge.
